A break, sort of! - July 18, 2010

So another week has passed and most of the festivals for the summer are over. Next big one is The National Traditional Country Music Festival held August 30 - September 5th. A whole week of music from 9am to 12pm. Over 600 performers. Country Superstar Bill Anderson will be there this year as well as Patti Page! Of course I'll be there too.......

The Elk Point Heritage Fest was fun to say the least and we had a good crowd even though it was HOT! Elaine Peacock was on hand all day and I even got to do a duet with her at one point. She has about 22 days left of radiation treatments left. She did a great job with her shows even though she is wore out from medical problems. Her return to business may include an appearance with me sharing the bill at BarNone Cowboy Church in Colfax, Iowa. November 4th. There is plans for another trip to The penitentiary in Sioux Falls, SD. in September? Forgot the date I guess!

Not much going on from now until the fest here in LeMars the end of August. Glad to say I've had a good time so far this summer but enough is enough! Every week since the middle of May I've been going and going. But I'll not complain! Glad to get a break. I'll be using that time to work on my new CD again finally. There's a chance I'll be recording my next CD in Nashville for a real record label! Gotta see that first.......

The SideTracks Band is still busy every week but mostly one nighters. Big recording session coming up for Austin Truax. We'll be doing some preliminary tracks this coming Wednesday in Omaha. That is going to have some of the best of the best midwest musicians involved and will be a killer CD for sure! Did I say I get a break? Well, sort of....

Stay cool!

Summertime & I sure am busy...... - July 15, 2010

Can you believe July is half gone? It's been a tiring but fun summer so far. This week, Elk Point, SD and the "Heritage Festival", next week, "The SideTracks Band" returns to the Sioux Falls, SD Moose Club. Had a great time there last time. After that there is an actual break!

We were preparing this last week in Crofton, Nebraska for a recording project coming up in August. Austin & Rebecca Truax otherwise known as "Silvertip" will be doing a major recording in Omaha. This project has the best of the best players in the Midwest involved with Charlie Groth as producer. It will be a real honor for me to be included in this project. Austin has some great songs he's written and with this group of musicians involved this CD is going to be major. Watch for the release date, you'll want a copy for sure. Austin will be at Elk Point, SD for the Heritage Fest this Saturday. His show will be at 11:40 am.

A real treat will be working with my good friend Clarence Hayden this weekend. He is a true Country Recording Artist. Of course Charley Groth will be on hand. Charley, Terry Durr and I will, no doubt, be giving you a sample of "The Easy Street Band" of which we are a part. (How many bands am I in?) Jay Kelly, who is the 4th member of this group remains in the hospital with health issues. Jay is also supposed to play fiddle on Austin's CD project, so get better Jay! We need you out here. We could use some prayer help for Jay!

So, I said there's a break coming? Sort of. I will be able to spend some time playing with the Worship team at my church, "Rejoice Church" here in LeMars, Iowa. Haven't been able to do that since the end of May. This is a great uptempo, lively worship team that loves the Lord and is a joy to be around. I believe I'll be on hand though August 1st for the Sunday Service. August 7th The SideTracks Band is in Lincoln, Nebraska at the Moose Club. Then a week long recording seeion in Omaha? Well, it's sort of a break!

Stay cool & dry!
